Edith Adington, 86, of Route 1, Kings Mountain, died Tuesday at Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford, after an illness of several years.
She was born in Pike County on October 11, 1887, the daughter of Mary Ellen and Ichabod Sanders, both deceased.
She married Robert Adington who preceded his wife in death in 1959.
Survivors include three sons, Vernon Adington of Waynesburg, Claude Adington of Kings Mountain, and Lonnie Adington, also of Waynesburg; one daughter, Mrs. Mollie Estes of Kings Mountain; three brothers, Arthur Sanders of Michigan, N.P. Sanders of Waynesburg, and Willie Sanders of Florida; three sisters, Mrs. Dessie Sims and Mrs. J.S. Tarkington, both of Stanford, and Mrs. Martha Burk of Pikeville; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was a housewife and a member of the Methodist church.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Barnett Funeral Home with Rev. Gurney York officiating.
Burial will be in the Double Springs Cemetery.
