Mrs. Fish was the beloved daughter of William and Ann Sandercock and was born in England on the 2nd day of Aug, 1828, and was 74 years 9 months and 2 days old at the time of her departure. She came with her parents from England to Illinois about 50 years ago, and has resided here ever since. During the greater part of that time, she has lived in Sumner township.
On the 18th of January 1855, she was happily united in marriage with Mr. John Fish, to whose life she contributed a wealth of affection and devotion that can never be fully estimated until we pass into that blessed estate, where no shadows intervene, but where "we shall know as we are known."
Mrs. Fish was the mother of two children, Daniel Edson, who died when 5 years of age, and Arthur, who resides in our city. Besides a bereaved husband, she leaves one brother, Mr. John Sandercock of Watseka, Ill., and one sister, Mrs. Jane Clapsadle of Momence and six grandchildren to cherish her memory with ardent affection.
She united with the M.E. church of Grant Park, Ill. Though at times during her illness, she suffered severely, yet she bore her afflictions with patient submission, exclaiming with expiring breath, "Lord help me." She has entered into that rest that remaineth for the people of God.
The funeral services were conducted at the M.E. church of this city, Wednesday at 1 p.m. by Rev. R.B. Seaman and the remains were laid away to rest at the Union Corners cemetery.
