Sergeant Barry J. Sacks, Metropolitan Police Department-First District (1D) retired in October 2003, passed away on February 26, 2015. While no longer a member of the AORP, we wanted you to be aware of his passing.

Sergeant Barry J. Sacks was appointed to the Metropolitan Police Department on August 23, 1982 and retired on October 31, 2003. Barry was the brother of AORP member Max Sacks.

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS:

Viewing will be Sunday, February 28th, from 4-8 PM

Barry was the brother of AORP member Max Sacks.

Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, Maryland

Service will be Monday, February 29th, 11 AM

On Friday, February 26, 2016, Barry Joseph Sacks, Sr. of Laurel, Maryland. Barry was the devoted son of the late Rosaleen and John Sacks and is survived by his step-mother Antoinette Sacks; beloved father of Barry Joseph Sacks, Jr. and loving companion of Patti Brown; dear brother of Denise Poss (Charley), Cherie Randow (Bill), Debbie Meetre (Jimmy), Max "Tommy" Sacks (Nancy), Steven Sacks (Natalie), Scott Sacks (Annette), Spencer "Paul" Sacks (Lauren) and the late Frances Sacks; step-brother of Annie Davido (Peter), Christine Arundel (John) and John Dempsey (Jane). Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his beloved Lucky. Barry was retired from the Metropolitan Police Department and a longtime member of the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc., 7250 Washington Boulevard, Elkridge, Maryland 21075 (exit 6 South off Rt. 100) on Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. where a Life Remembered Service will be held in the Kaufman Vermillion Chapel on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. Interment Meadowridge Memorial Park. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in Barry''s name to the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department, 7411 Cherry Lane, Laurel, MD 20707.
