Doris worked at the 5th District Administration Building, Norfolk Naval Base during World War II. She graduated from Kirby's Beauty Academy where she worked for five years. She served at J.C. Penney Co. Inc. on Monticello Avenue in sales and as credit manager for 10 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 45, the Women of Moose, Chapter 157 and the Second Degree Friendship.
Survivors include a son, Lewis Peach Jr. and his wife, Denise of Arnold, Md.; four grandchildren, Georgia's daughter, Shelly Marie Brogan of Williamsburg and Lewis III, Heather and John Peach of Maryland; a sister-in-law, Minnie Azer of Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers-in-law, Charles A. Downing and wife, Elisabeth, Jim Downing and wife, Mary Lou; sisters-in-law, Jane Forches and her husband, Dean of Norfolk, Carol Atkinson and her husband, Thomas of Wilmington, N.C.; 11 nieces and nephews and their families. Also a special friend, N. Donald Phillips.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norview Chapel, where a funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
