Funeral services will be at 5:30 p.m. today in the Sorrells and Sons Memorial Chapel for Mrs. Esther May Sockwell, 90, of 3409 Washington St., who died at 5:50 a.m. Wednesday at her home following a long illness.

The Rev. Carrol D. Copeland and the Rev. Harrison Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Park.

Born Sept. 7, 1879, in (sic) daughter of J.M. and Alice E. Buzbee Renfro. She was married Dec. 31, 1899, in Greenville to E.L. Sockwell, who died April 7, 1950. She was a member of Kavanaugh Methodist Church.

She is survived by one son, E.L. Sockwell of Las Vegas,Nev.; two daughters, Miss Hazle Sockwell and Miss Thelma Sockwell of Greenville; two grandchildren, Mrs. Tony Boyd of Beaumont and Edward M. Sockwell, in the service in Germany. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Campbell, Aug. 8, 1943; and one son, Herman L. Sockwell, July 14, 1968.

Active pallbearers will be J.B. Briscoe, Ben Hill Bailey, Tom Bailey, Hilton H. Campbell, Hyatt Cheek and Herman Winans.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. F.L. Young, Vergil Mller, Olin McWhirter, Benton Wolfe, C.R. Loyd, W.C. 'Dub' Lewis, Clyde Lytton, J.M. Stewart, C.B. Williams and R.L. Gant.
