Obituary
Dorothy Jean Ryon Allison passed away at her home in San Angelo on Saturday, May 11, 2013 after a long battle with Cancer. A lovely lady whose remarkable outer beauties were only surpassed by her amazing inner strength and beauty. Dorothy was a much loved and adored daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister in law. She was the grand matriarch of her very close knit and private family.

Dorothy was born on November 11, 1937 to Henry Houston and Charles Dee Fritts Ryon in Brownwood, Texas as an only child. Her grandfather, Thomas Jackson "T.J." Ryon settled in Ector, Fannin County Texas in 1892 and married Elizabeth Adeline "Addie" Culpepper where they raised seven sons and one daughter on the family farm. Deeply entrenched in Texas History, Dorothy's Great-great grandparents William M and Elizabeth Hanson were some of the first settlers in Brown County from England. Grandmother, Adina P. Hanson was born in Comanche, Texas in 1874 and later married Joseph Calloway Fritts were they raised two sons and two daughters on the family farm in Bangs, Texas.

Dorothy was raised mainly in Brownwood, Texas and on the nearby family farms. She attended Brownwood High School where she won the title of Miss Lake Brownwood. After graduating from Howard Payne University, she moved to San Angelo, Texas to make it her home.

She was heavily inspired by her Aunt, Ima "Jewel" Fritts who acted as a mentor to her by teaching her to play bridge; which was one of her strongest passions. She excelled in playing duplicate and competitive bridge around the country as a member of the American Contract Bridge League. She was later awarded the coveted rank of Gold Life Master. She was also very instrumental in helping with the branding and marketing direction for her son to start his business, Scott Allison Real Estate in 1985.

Dorothy is survived by her beloved and devoted husband, Hugh "Pascal" Allison II, her son, Craig "Scott" Allison of San Angelo and her daughter Sabrina Allison Haecker and husband Ryan Ray Haecker of San Angelo. She was also blessed to have two granddaughters, Fallon Lea Allison, Nia Grace Allison and two grandsons, Elisha "Eli" Harris Howard V and Henry Pascal Howard. She was also thankful for her two sisters –in –laws Susan Allison Bloodworth and Sarah Allison Post who were like sisters to her. She was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy's family wishes to thank all of her friends for their loyal and unwavering support during this difficult time. The family especially wishes to thank Hospice of San Angelo, the START center of San Antonio, Dr. Lon Smith, and Dr. Gary Nussey, Dr. Kyriakos Papadopoulos and their staff for their tender and constant care.

A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 10:30 am at Johnson's Funeral Home. The Family asks that memorials be made to the START Center in San Antonio and Hospice of San Angelo.
