Marie Grace Boyd was born 89 years ago in Pittsburg to Rocco and Rosalie Russo. She worked for many years at Western California Canners but spent most of her time devoted to volunteering. She belonged to Catholic Daughters of America, Sons of Italy, Good Shepherd Women's Guild, the Historical Society, Hospital Volunteers, Senior Center Bingo, Stoneman Village Bingo, and played bocce for many years.

She was preceded in death by husband Gerald, brothers Sal "Truckie" Russo and Rocco Russo, sisters Jennie Enea and Mary Costanza, and grandson Shayne Stucki.

She is survived by sister Fran Ostertag; sister-in-law Vinnie Russo; her son Jerry (Judy) Boyd; daughter Jeanette (Marv) Stucki; six grandchildren: Marlene Rolfe, Alesia Buer, Karen (Boyd) Howe, Tom Boyd, Kim Jeffery and JaNay Nichols; also 13 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Grace was always quietly there, always serving, always caring, and always a perfect example of a good Christian. She will forever be missed by her family and her many close friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010 at 4:30 p.m. with a vigil at 7:00 p.m. at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral Liturgy Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Good Shepherd. Committal services following at Holy Cross Cemetery, Antioch. Memorials in Grace's name may be made to your favorite charity.
