Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Shamrock Cemetery with the Rev. Joe G. Jernigan, pastor of Calvary Christian Fellowship, officiating. Rosary was said at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday by James Panackle of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Shamrock. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Directors.
Digna Marie Russell was born Sept. 21, 1926, in Anton, Panama, to Fermin and Elena Aguilar. She met Jarrell D. Russell in Panama, where he served as a military police officer during World War II. They were married on Nov. 1, 1946, in Shamrock. She and Jarrell worked together farming and ranching. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary and the American Quarter Horse Association.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Fermin Aguilar; and a sister, Lloyda Jiron.
Survivors include her husband, Jarrell Russell of Shamrock; a son, Jarrell Russell Jr. of Shamrock; a daughter, Diana Pate of Decatur; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Carmen Thacker of Florida, Marina Gainey of Georgia and Elena DeGuardia of Panama; and a brother, Fernando Aguilar of Panama.
The family will meet at Eleventh Street Baptist Church.
