The death of Henry Ruppenthal, of which we made brief announcement last week, recalled to the minds of our older residents that he was a pioneer of Brillion and established the first store Brillion had.
He was a native of Germany, being born there in 1842. He died at Portland, Tenn., March 25, and the body was brought here for burial. Funeral services were conducted from the Fred Maas home. Rev. Reichert officiating.
Interment was in the public cemetery, and pall bearers were Carl Klukow, Henry Plank, Aug. Tamm, Carl Maertz, Aug. Jodar and Rud. Fiedler. He is survived by a son and a daughter, Alvin and Clara respectively.
