Wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend who put her Christian beliefs into practice every day in service to others. She volunteered for more than 15 years with the Optometric Center of St. Louis, a non-profit institution which Fran and her husband helped found, providing vision care for those in need. As Deacon, Elder and Sunday School teacher for over 40 years at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church she served fellow members with acts of kindness too numerous to count. A dedicated volunteer at Barnes Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, she was also a docent for the Central St. Louis Public Library for 19 years. She was an enthusiastic bell collector, member and officer of Gateway Arch Bells chapter of the American Bell Association. A Cub Scout Den Mother and PTA member she was always a selfless and unfailing servant to her family and friends. Born and raised in south St. Louis, she graduated from Southwest High School in 1941 and attended Washington University. She is survived by: husband Dr. Clemens H. Jacques; children Anne (Steve Merle), Richard and Steven (Christine); grandchildren Stesha and Jeremy Merle; sister Margaret (Frank) Wagner; treasured nieces and nephews.
