Ms. Verna Rudolph, age 97, formerly of 1129 South 12th St., Manitowoc, died
Thursday morning July 15, 1993, at the St. Mary’s Nursing Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday from the Phipps Memorial
Chapel adjacent to the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Hugh Anderson will
officiate and burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
She was born September 20, 1895, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Richard and
Augusta Eberhardt Rudolph. She attended the Third Ward grade school and graduated
from high school in 1913. Following her graduation she attended Carroll College,
Waukesha, Wis., and graduated with a BA degree in 1918. She then attended the
University of Wisconsin Madison receiving an MA degree in English in 1919.
Following which she then came to Manitowoc and taught English and German at
Lincoln High School from 1919 until her retirement in 1955. She was a member
of the First Presbyterian Church, a former member of the Order of the Eastern
Star of Manitowoc; a charter member of the Manitowoc-Two Rivers branch of A.A.U.W.
and she was a charter member of the Golden Pioneer Club of Carroll College,
Waukesha.
She is survived by cousins, friends and many students.
Friends may call at the Phipps Memorial Chapel from noon Saturday until the time
of services.
There will be no Friday evening visitation at the funeral home. Memorials may be
made to the First Presbyterian Church or donors choice. The Jens Funeral home
assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
