ROSIE "LUCILLE" AKERS
Rosie "Lucille" Akers, daughter of Ray and Beatrice Ruby, was born in Diagonal, Iowa July 6, 1918 and departed this life on September 7, 1995 at Pueblo, Colorado at the age of 77 years. She grew to maturity in Diagonal where she attended public school and church.
On October 10, 1938 she was united in marriage to Melvin Akers at Maryville, Missouri and they lived in Benton, Iowa until 1968, and then moved to Pueblo, Colorado until 1995.
To this union three children were born; Chester Ray, Duane Eugene, and Richard Franklin. She was employed as a seamstress and housewife.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Duane Eugene Akers and sister Dorthy Carson. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Melvin Akers; son, Chester Akers and wife Sandy; son Richard Akers and wife Choncie; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was a kind and considerate wife, mother, and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services were held September 11 at Novinger-Taylor Funeral Home. Burial was in Washington Cemetery, Gravity, Iowa.
