OLIVE S BASQUIN--83: died Monday after-noon [6-11] at CherryHills Manor Nursing Home in Englewood, where she had been under care since March, following amputation of her right leg in January at Mercy Hosp in Denver.
MrsBasquin was taken to MercyHosp Dec 29th & on Jan 9th her right leg was amputated mid-way between the hip & the knee, following developement of an infection as the result of improper blood circulatory action. Her death Monday was the result of further develope-ment of the circulatory disorder & infection.
She was born 26 Jan 1879 in Cuba KS & was married to William Basquin on 20 Apr 1898 in Woodruff KS, where the couple made their home for the next several years & where MrBasquin was in the livery business. In 1918 Mr&Mrs Basquin moved to Laird CO, where MrBasquin operated a farm produce business. They later moved to nearby Wray & in 1940 moved to Denver where they operated hotels until coming to Idaho Springs to purchase the Queen Hotel in 1946. While living in Kansas & after to moving to Laird & Wray, MrsBasquin taught school for more than 25 years. She & her late husband owned & operated the Queen Hotel here for more than 12 years. Following the death of her husband in 1961, Mrs Basquin continued operation of the Queen Hotel here until she was taken to the hospital.
She is survived by daus: MrsWalter Bashford-Wray CO; MrsBonnie Whitten-Lamar; MrsAlbert Stroud-Conifer; MrsCM Fluckey-Denver. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 8 gr grand-children & a brother: FrankH Royce-Olympia WA. MrsBasquin was preceded in death by her husband & dau: MrsGeorge Leefeldt
Services were held Wednesday afternoon [6-13] in the chapel of Tomford Mortuary. Rev Wm Garner-minister of the First Presbyterian Church officiated. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery in Denver.
