Daphne Rowe Caldwell
MARION - Daphne Rowe Caldwell, widow of Gregg Holt Caldwell, died November 12, 2013. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 15, at the Chapel of Florence Presbyterian Community. Mrs. Caldwell was born September 3, 1925, the daughter of the late William Hugh Rowe, Sr. and Daphne Coward Rowe.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Florence, where she was a member of Good Samaritan Sunday School Class. She was a former member of Marion Presbyterian Church where she served as choir director, teacher, and Elder. Mrs. Caldwell received the B.M. degree in choral P.S.M. from Florida State University and the M. Ed. degree from Georgia Southern University. She taught in the public schools of Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. She was a former member of Marion Music Club, Azalea Garden Club, Book Review Club, Sigma Alpha Iota, Phi Delta Kappa, and Delta Kappa Gamma.
Survivors are : son, Gregg Holt "Chip" Caldwell, Jr. (Paula); grandchildren Allison Boykin (Ronnie) and Rebecca; sisters, Wisteria R. Jenkins (Ralph) of Seattle, WA, and Marilyn R. Sellars of Tallahassee, FL; brother, John Riley Rowe of Bell, FL; step-sister, Paulette R. Coon of Houston, TX.
She was predeceased by brothers, Elry V. Rowe of Salinas, CA, and William H. Rowe, Jr., of Bainbridge, GA; sister, Winogene R. Sutton of St. Petersburg, FL; and step-brother, Charles R. Rowe of Homestead, FL.
Mrs. Caldwell was a resident of the Presbyterian Community of Florence, SC.
