Joan Heffelfinger, 78, Huntington died at 6:47 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 20, 2007) at the Norwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Huntington.
Mrs. Heffelfinger was the owner and operator of the Dollar Stretcher Store on William Street in Huntington for 45 years. She was a member of Central Christian Church and a 1947 graduate of Huntington High School.
Mrs. Heffelfinger was born on May 4, 1929, in Huntington, to Herman and Eva Fisher Roush. She married Robert Heffelfinger in Huntington on May 15, 1948. Her husband survives.
Also surviving include two sons, Jeffrey R. Heffelfinger and John W. Heffelfinger, both of Huntington; two daughters, Linda L. Schroeder of Fort Wayne and Kathleen A. Stewart of New Haven; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A brother, J. Edward Roush, and a sister, Jean Barnett, preceded her in death.
There will be no visitation. Private family services will take place at a later date. Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to the Huntington House or to the Boys & Girls Club of Huntington County, in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, IN 46750.
