Louisa A. Ross Dead
A Noble Woman Whose Home and Family Had All the Love and Devotion of Her Life
After a vain but heroic struggle with disease for the past eight months, Miss Louisa A. Ross passed peacefully away at 2 o'clock this morning, at the family residence at No. 415 East Main street, the immediate cause of her death being peritonitis. She was taken ill in April last, and after suffering for some time, consented to an operation, which was performed at the Elk County General Hospital, and was thought to be very successful. Miss Ross was fo a time almost well, and her relatives were delighted to think that she would soon again be in perfect health. It was a vain hope, however, for her old trouble came back, and her spirit took its flight. She was very lo for some days past, but during her last illness she was carefully and tenderly ministered to by Miss Eoll, a skillful trained nurse, assisted by her loving relatives.
The funeral service will be held at the homeon Friday evening, at 8 o'clock, and will be public. Rev. H. A. Ellis will officiate. Interment will be made privately on Saturday forenoon, at 10 o'clock, in Pine Grove Cemetery, this place. Funeral Director H. E. VanAken will have charge of the funeral.
Miss Ross was born on a farm in Allegheny county, Pa., near Pittsburg, but afterward for many years the family residence was in Freeport, Armstrong county. She was born in the year 1850, and hence wa sixty years old.
Miss ross was a woman who loved her home and family and to them had devoted her life. She spent a few years with a married sister in the west, but the best of her life was devoted to caring for her aged parents at thier home in Freeport. She and her sister, who died about a year ago, and their brother, John a. Ross, the well know Ridgway contractor, cared tenderly and lovingly for the old folks until they passed away about ten years ago. The old folks having enjoyed the sunset of their lives among the friends of their active years, and passed away, then Mr. Ross Brought the rest of teh family who remained at home to Ridgway in November, 1900, ten years ago. Here she still kept up the home for her devoted brother, John A. Ross.
Miss Ross is survived by five brothers, three of whom live in Ridgway, and a widowed sister, who resides in the west, besides five nephews and six nieces. She was not widely known, for she devoted her life to her home and those near and dear to her, by whom she was much loved and is now sincerely mourned.
Peace has its heros and heroines no less deserved than war.
