Charles "Chuck" A. Ross, 85, passed away Monday, Aug. 1, 2011 at 9:26 a.m. at Marion County Veteran's Administratin Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born to the late F. Cline and Joyce A. (Dauberman) Ross.

He was a 1943 graduate of Wabash High School and attended Purdue University studying agriculture. He served his country as a Merchant Marine in the United States Navy. Chuck especially loved helping people and volunteering his time. He was honored to have become an Eagle Scout when he was younger.

Chuck is survived by a sister, Martha R (Ray C.) Hood of Wabash; two nephews, Ross M. (Kellie) Woodward of Gainesville, Fla., and Paul H. Woodward of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; five great nieces and nephews, Audrey and Chad Woodward of Gainesville, Fla., and Lillie, P.J. and Paul Martin Woodward of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and a close friend, Teresa (Doug) Anderson.

Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. until noon on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Ave., Wabash. Military rites will be given by American Legion Post No. 15 and VFW post No. 286 of Wabash at noon on Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Mansfield Cemetery in Mansfield, Ill., at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 5, 2011
