BOWMAN, EFFIE (nee Roseman) - 96, formerly of Wildwood Crest, passed away peacefully Monday, November 24, 2014. She was born to the late George T. Roseman and Nellie Hogan Roseman, July 11, 1918 in Cape May. Effie graduated from Cape May High School in 1935 and went on to work for the Cape May Star and Wave as a typesetter. She married Francis J. Bowman in 1936. Frank and Effie made their home in Wildwood Crest, raising their six children. They owned and operated Ganser's Bakery. Effie was an active member of the Church of the Assumption, Wildwood Crest and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society; Catholic Daughters and PTA. She was an accomplished seamstress and owned the Needle Eye Boutique in Cape May in the 70's. Effie will be long remembered for her ability to drop what she was doing to help a friend in need. She enjoyed the simply things in life, most of all, having a good time with friends and family. She is predeceased by her husband, Francis J. Bowman and her son, Joseph Bowman. Effie will be dearly missed by her loving family which includes her five children, daughter Kathleen (and John) Wursta of Scottsdale, AZ, daughter Bernadette (and Joseph) Longobardi of Jacksonville Beach, FL, daughter Cherie Hanscomb of Cape May, daughter Ave Russo of Alpharetta, GA, and son Martin (and Stephanie) Bowman of Canton, GA; 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday (Dec. 1) at 9:30am in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 525 Washington St., Cape May where there will be a viewing from 8:30am – 9:20am. Interment will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Lower Twp.
