Daughter of Spencer Alexander & Josephine Parthene "Josie" Gilstrap Roper; widow of John Thomas Atkinson.

She was a native of Pickens County and a member of Kings Grove Baptist Church.

Survived by five sons, B.S. Atkinson of Central, P. T. Atkinson of Augusta, GA, D. J. Atkinson of Rock Hill, and William R. and J. W. Atkinson, both of Greenville; two daughters, Mrs. Maebell Hunnicutt and Mrs. Janie Nell Black, both of Greenville; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Belle McCall and Mrs. Susie Rampey, both of Easley.

Funeral services: Saturday, November 17, 1973, Six Mile Baptist Church.

Burial: Hillcrest Memorial Park
