Emma Roos, 89, of Sonoma, California, formerly of Orange City died September 30, 2001, at her residence.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 13, at 10:30 a.m. at the Oollman Funeral Home in Orange City. The Rev. Tom Boeve of Sonoma will officiate. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.
Emma was born November 30, 1911, in Orange City, the eldest child of Albert and Alice (Langhout) Roos. She was raised at Orange City. For several years she lived in Washington, D.C. where she earned her law degree and was employed by the Internal Revenue Service. She spent most of her life in California where she made her home with her sister, Kathryne in Sonoma.
Miss Roos was legal counselor of the United States Naval Base at Terminal Island in Long Beach, California. She retired in 1976. She was a member of the Sonoma Valley Community Church and had been active in professional women's organizations.
Survivors include two sisters, Kathryne Roos of Sonoma and Alberta Dorhout of West Palm Beach, Florida; two brothers, John Roos of Orange City and Wilbur Roos of Lees Summit, Missouri; and many nephews and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Alta Davis of Falls, Church, Virginia; and two brothers, Allen Roos of Orange City and Wayne Roos of Tigard, Oregon.
