Matilda Runser was born in Upper Alsace Lorraine, France and moved to America in the early 1830s with her mother and father, Catharine and Seraphine Runser. Matilda was first married to John Rusher and together they had five children: John, Henry, Michael, Jeremiah (Michael and Jeremiah were twins), and Mary. On February 17,1858 the widowed Matilda married Charles Perry Rollison and together they had Thaddeus, Matilda (Ella), Charles Perry,Jr.(who died young), Addison and Marion. In the winter of 1873 the Rollison family moved by flatboat from Indiana to Arkansas where Charles and Matilda lived for the rest of their lives.
