Chales Perry Rollison was the husband of Matilda Runser Rusher Rollison and father of Thaddeus Rollison, Matilda Rollison (Johnson), Charles Rollison (who died at about 7 years of age),Addison Rollison and Marion Rollison.
During the winter of 1873 Charles Perry Rollison and his family moved from Indiana to Arkansas on a flatboat which he built with the help of his sons and stepsons. His son Thaddeus W. Rollison told the story of their amazing journey in a series of articles which appeared in the Arkansas Democrat newspaper in 1937.
Charles was the step father of:
John Rusher, Henry Rusher, Michael Rusher, Jeremiah Rusher and Mary Rusher (Baker).
Charles and Matilda also raised Mary Ann McGraw from infancy. Her father, a farmer named Joseph was unable to care for his baby daughter after the death of his wife a few days after Mary's birth. (Mary appeared on the 1880 census as a four year old living in the household of Charles and Matilda Rollison.) Mary remained close with her father through the years but after he died when she was a young teenager; Charles filed papers and became her legal guardian.
