A lifelong resident of Wells County, James H. Rogers, 74, of Liberty Center died at 1:30 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2006, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Rogers was retired from Citizens Telephone Company in Warren after 27 years of service as a lineman. He was also a retired Wells County farmer.

A 1950 graduate of Chester Center High School, Mr. Rogers was a member of the Liberty Center Baptist Church.

Born on Jan. 16, 1932 in Poneto, he was the son of Thurel and Elizabeth (Coulter) Rogers. He was married on October 12, 1952, in Keystone to his wife of 53 years, Mildred "Shirley" (Brown) Rogers, who survives.

Other survivors include his daughter Lea Ann Rogers of Liberty Center, a sister, Doris I. Elliott of Anderson, and a grandson.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert H. Rogers.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Glancy Funeral Homes - Walker Chapel in Montpelier. Services are at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Walker Chapel with Pastor Dan Sommer officiating.

Burial will be in Brookside Memorial Park in Montpelier.

Preferred memorials are to Rogers family.
