"Ulla Bessie Benney, 101, of Thousand Oaks, Calif., formerly of Kansas City, died June 16, 1987, in a nursing home in Thousand Oaks.


Mrs. Benney was born Dec. 8, 1885, in Hartford, Kan., and had lived in the Kansas City area until moving to Thousand Oaks in 1979. She was a member of the Independence Boulevard Christian Church, where she played the piano and organ for the Northeast Women's Bible Class. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her husband, James L. Benney, died in 1949.


Survivors include a son, Theodore Benney of Thousand Oaks; two daughters, Lucia Schmitz of Kansas City, and Martha Viseur of Peoria, Ariz.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.


Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Blackman Guardian Chapel; burial in Mount Moriah Cemetery." The Kansas City Star, June 21, 1987
