HARLINGEN,TX.—Antonia Galvan

Antonia (Mama Conchita) Galvan passed away to be with Our Lord on Monday, August 2, 2010 at the age of 93. She was born October 13, 1916 in General Bravo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Justo Rodriguez and Santos Lopez de Rodriguez.

Mama Conchita was preceded in death by her husband Carlos G. Galvan and several siblings.

She is survived by her children; Carlos, Jr. (Alicia) of Edcouch, Gloria G. Canales, Homero (Graciela), Gilbert (Bernadette) all of Harlingen. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren; Elly Hinojosa, Patti Gonzalez, Connie Canales, Mandy Poplin, Monica Gilbert, Elizabeth Yetman, Carlos Galvan, III, Carla Teague, Jorge Galvan, Veronica G. Roqueta, Gracie Arredondo, Erica Santillana, Jose Manuel Galvan, Erika Lee Galvan and Daniel Galvan. She is also survived by 2 brothers; Oscar and Manuel Rodriguez, 26 great-grandchildren, 2 great, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 from 10 am until 9 pm with a recitation of the holy rosary at 7 pm.

The funeral procession will depart on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 10:30 am for a funeral service to be held at 11 am at Our Lady of Assumption. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are; Jorge Homero Galvan, Manuel Galvan, Nicholas Alfaro, Gilbert Galvan, Daniel Galvan, and Joseph Hinojosa.

Mama Conchita was a kind and loving person that really valued the importance of God and family above all things and really knew how to make a person feel welcome in her home. She will be greatly missed. Special thanks to Dolores Becho, Dora Sanchez and especially to Harlingen Nursing Center and Alma Cantu from CIMA Hospice for all of their caring help and support.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home of Harlingen.
