HELEN BARNEY ROBINSON RASBERRY

SHREVEPORT, LA - Helen Barney Robinson Rasberry, 84, died on March 20, 1997 after a sudden illness. She was a daughter of Lea Borden Robinson and Ella Redhead Robinson, born June 12, 1912, in Centreville, MS, the descendant of early Louisiana and Mississippi settlers.

She graduated from Bellhaven College in Jackson, MS and did GGGGgraduate work in Washington, D.C. at the Red Cross National Headquarters. She worked in disaster relief for the victims of the Mississipi floods of 1935 - 1937.

After her marriage to William Clinton Rasberry, Sr., she moved to Shreveport in 1936, whe she and her husband, "Razz," were staunch supporters of numerous civic endeavors. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Woman, her book club and the Colonial Dames of America. She was among the founders of the Pelican Council of the Girl Scouts of America in Shreveport and one of the early supporters of Southfield School. In 1962 she was Holiday in Dixie's "Forgotten Woman." Helen loved her garden and her grandchildren without reserve. He interest and love of the land, music and the arts lives on in her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, William Clinton "Razz" Rasberry, Sr.; her daughter, Gayden "Sissy" Rasberry Jones and her husband, Walk C. Jones, III of Memphis; son, William Clinton "Bubba" Rasberry, Jr., and wife, Kathy Rasberry of Shreveport. She is also survived by grandchildren, Anne Marie Caskey, Memphis, TN, Rev. Walk C. Jones, IV and wife, Nancy Jones of Orlando, FL, Julia Norwood Caskey of San Francisco, CA, Mark G. Jones of Memphis, TN, Rev. William G. Jones and wife, Susan Jones of Linlithgow, Scotland, and William Clinton Rasberry, III of Shreveport. She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Julia Robinson White, and survived by sisters, Ella Redhead Robinson Hall and Clara "Toddy" Robinson Roberts. Her three great-grandchildren are Andrew Jones, Camden Jones and Anne Louise Jones of Orlando, FL

Pallbearers are Mark G. Jones, Borden White, Jim Thompson, Dr. Bill Hall, Jr., Russell Bruner and Dr. Edward Watt.

Officiating at the funeral services will be her grandsons, Rev. Walk C. Jones, IV and Rev. William G. Jones along with Rev. Wilson Warren on March 21, 1997 at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Shreveport or the Bob Walkup Chair of Christian Ethics at Louisville Presbyterian Seminary, Louisville, KY.
