POCATELLO - Jimmie Lee Robinson, 86, stepped into eternity on December 23, 2012, and was welcomed home by his father, mother and brother.
Jimmie was born at home in Pocatello, Idaho on March 24, 1926, the second son of George Joseph Robinson and Leila Edna Wilkinson Robinson. He was raised in Pocatello and except for when he was in the service he lived his entire life here. He attended Emerson Elementary, Irving Jr High, and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1947 after having dropped out of school at the age of 17 to join the Navy. Jimmie later attended ISU where he earned a certificate in refrigeration.
He served his country during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. After his discharge he returned to high school where in September of 1947 he met his eternal sweetheart, Thelma Euneice Critchley. They dated for a year and were married November 19, 1948 at his family home.
This union was blessed with four children. Terry Lee born November 30, 1950, Cheryl Lynn born March 3, 1955, Karyn Joy born December 19, 1956, and then Vicki Ann completed their family on January 26, 1966. Jimmie and Euneice sealed their family together for eternity on June 21, 1956, in the Idaho Falls Temple.
He was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held the office of High Priest. He served faithfully and honorably in every calling he was called to. When his family was young he served a Stake mission and after his family was grown he and Euneice served a mission at the LDS Employment Center and were the first employment missionaries at the LDS Institute at ISU.
Jimmie grew up wandering the hills on the west side of Pocatello and loved fishing and hunting in Island Park. He loved the outdoors and took his family on camping trips every summer. When Jimmie got home from the service he went to work for the Store Department at the Union Pacific Railroad. He later transferred to the Car Department and then to the Signal Department where he worked until he retired.
Jimmie was a people person. He loved to talk and no one was a stranger to him. He was a tease and he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they loved him.
Jimmie is survived by his wife, Euneice and their children Terry (Judy) Robinson, Palestine, Texas; Cheryl (Ken) Simpson, Chubbuck; Karyn (Roger) Miller, Pocatello; Vicki Robinson, Pocatello; 13 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Leslie Robinson, sister-in-law Maxine Hayden, a nephew Larry Robinson and nieces Barbie Robinson Westover and Donna Earline Cluff, Farris J Critchley, father-in-law, L. Florence Parkin Critchley, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law Alton Later, Roger L. Miller, son-in-law, grandson Tyrel J. Miller, granddaughter Kaylie J. Miller, and grandson Travis L. Robinson.
The family would like to thank the staff at Portneuf Medical Center, the nurses and therapists at Access Home Health, Quinn Meadows and Monte Vista Hills for the loving care they showed Jimmie the last 2 years.
Family was always most important to him and "Grandpa Jimmie" will be greatly missed. "FAMILY…Where life begins and love never ends."Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2012, at the City Creek Ward Chapel, located at 655 S. Grant, Pocatello, with Bishop David Platt officiating. A viewing will be held Friday, December 28, 2012, from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at the Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, and one hour prior to the services at the Church. Military honors will be held at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
