Hester C. Ebert, age 94, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014.

She was a 3rd generation, 80 year member of Travis Park United Methodist Church.

In 1970, she graduated from Incarnate Word College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics.

Hester had a passion for sewing and anyone could consider her a Master Seamstress; she also enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, gardening and watching wildlife.

While in high school she was a counselor at Camp Waldemar in the Texas Hill Country. She was dedicated to teaching and taught special education.

She was a member of the Lee Kohlenberg Dance Ensemble at the Menger Hotel in downtown San Antonio and was a Charter Member of the San Antonio Symphony.

She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the highlight of her life.

Hester is preceded in death by her husband, Martin Lee Ebert; their son, Marty Ebert and daughter, Mary Ellen McCready. She is survived by her sister, Bonnie Surber and husband, William; grandchildren: Kathy and Arthur Pemberton, Allison and Steven Peterson, Robert McCready, Lee Ebert, Andrea Toepfer, Michaela and John McCown; great-grandchildren: Matthew, Austin, Lily, Luke, Abby, Sawyer, Sandi, Addison, Garrison, Kara, Brittany and Brandon; great-great grandson, Sebastian; daughter-in-law, Kathy Ebert; nephew, Howard Surber; niece, Hester Lyn Franklin and husband, Jim; great nephews: James, Adam and Justin and great niece, Ashley.

Hester was a remarkable woman; deeply loved and will be forever in our hearts.
