VIRGIE IRENE BROWN 
Virgie Irene Brown, 57, 140 Springfield Lane, Shady Valley, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton, Tennessee after a brief illness. She was a native of Mountain City, and was born to the late John and Mary Kate Jones Roark on July 13, 1945. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting and sewing. She was a member of Crandull Church of Christ and was preceded in death by one brother, J.D. Roark.  
Survivors include one daughter, Melissa Irene Woolley, Shady Valley, Tennessee; one son, George Brown, Shady Valley, Tennessee; one sister, Ruth Campbell, Shady Valley, Tennessee; five brothers, Wayne Roark, William Roark, both of Mountain City, Tennessee; Don Roark, Ronald Roark, both of Shady Valley, Tennessee; Dave Roark, Gate City, Tennessee; one granddaughter, Brittany Nicole Woolley, Shady Valley, Tennessee.  
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, January 26, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Harmon's Chapel Christian Church with Jim Hutchinson and Donald Nicklow officiating.  
Burial followed in the Woods Scott Cemetery.  
Pallbearers were Bill Sheperd, Gary Roark, George Garland, Rick Campbell, Terry Campbell and Gerald Campbell.  
Honorary pallbearers were Jeff Howard and Taylor Scott.
