FRED ROAHRIG DEAD
An Aged and Prominent Man Answers Last Call
Frederick ROAHRIG, one of the most widely known Germans in Muskingum and Coshocton Counties, died last Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George KAUFFMAN, in Coshocton County, near Wills Creek. He had been in poor health for several weeks prior to his death which was caused by a complication of diseases due to his advanced age. The deceased was born in Germany February 7, 1827. He came to america with his parents when a young man and a few years after coming to this country married Elizabeth LAPP, daughter of Henry and Magdalena LAPP, of Adams township. To this union ten children were born, four of whom preceded him to the grave. His wife also died a few years ago. The children living are: John ROAHRIG, of near Plainfield; Frederick ROAHRIG, of Conesville; Henry ROAHRIG, of Argos, Ind.; Mrs. Geo. KAUFFMAN, of near Wills Creek; Solomon ROAHRIG, of Adams township, and Abner ROAHRIG, of near Marquand. Fred ROAHRIG was a useful and enterprising citizen. While he was careful in his transactions he was nevertheless of a speculative disposition, and was often beneficial to a community in this respect. He was generally successful in his business transactions but always fair and impartial with those with whom he had business relations. He was kind and accommodating, a congenial companion and nearly everyone liked him. For several years Mr. ROAHRIG and his wife were residents of this village. They lived here until Mrs. ROAHRIG's health failed so much that they were compelled to go to the home of their daughter near Wills Creek.
Mr. ROAHRIG was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran church. He was faithful in attendance and a liberal supporter of the church. Funeral services were conducted Monday forenoon at the Zion Lutheran church by Rev. J.J.S. RUMBARGER and his remains were interred in the cemetery at that place
