On Friday, October 11, 2013, Joseph Richard Roach, born to Joseph William Roach and Mary Annie Robbins on August 28, 1926, passed away at the age of 87 in Chesapeake, VA. Richard was a veteran of World War II and was retired from a 40 year career with Norfolk-Southern Railroad. He was predeceased by both parents and a brother, Ervin; a step-father, Ernest Nichols; and step-children, Lee Combs and Alice Mills. He is survived by wife Betty J. Roach; and daughters, Elizabeth Marlow and husband Bill, Jozie Harris and husband Tony; and step-daughters, Patsy Reed and Nancy Combs. He is also survived by daughter, Karen Smith and husband Robert and son, Ricky Roach from his marriage to Lovie Mae Wright (deceased); grandchildren, Jennifer Boyd, Valori Justiss, Allison Williams, KaryMae Roach, Joseph and Dennis Posey, Christy and Neil Marlow; 8 step-grandchildren, including Danny, Angie and Jennifer Reed; and over two dozen great grandchildren. He is also survived by his half-sister, Elizabeth Coyne and husband Tom; nephew, Michael Coyne and wife Laurie; and great-nephew, Bryce Coyne of Smithfield, VA.
