OLD FRIENDS AT MRS. RITES' FUNERAL
She Was One of the Old Members of Central Church

The funeral of Mrs. J. H. Rites was held at 2:30 Monday afternoon at the Central Church of Christ. The services were conducted by Rev. O. W. Lawrence. There was a large attendance of old friends and neighbors and many beautiful floral tributes attested their regard. The music was furnished by Miss Clara Schwab and Miss Mildred Randolph. Mrs. Storer was the accompanist. The pall bearers were L. B. C. Leffingwell, John Howell, A. H. Eyman, J. H. Pritchett, William Anderson and J. D. Koons. The interment was at Greenwood.

Mrs. Rites was born in Frederick county, Md., Aug. 16, 1830. She was married to J. H. Rites at Newark, Md., in Nov., 1849. Five children were born to them, two of whom died in infancy. The remaining children, Mrs. Ellen Foose, Mrs. Emily Scanlon and Mrs. Agnes Eberly, all live in Decatur. She also leaves five grandchildren, William Eberly, Mabel Eberly Odor, Emmet Eberly and Earle and George Scanlon. There are two great grandchildren, Dorothy and Hugh Odor.

Mrs. Rites united with the Christian church in Decatur Jan. 18, 1881, when the church stood at the corner of William and North streets, during services conducted by Rev. Frank Richardson, now pastor of the First Christian church at Kansas City. She was always a diligent and faithful member of the church and took an active part in the work until her health failed.
