Emma Catherine Riney, 86, of Canton, Mo., formerly of St. Patrick, Mo., died Friday, April 12, 2002, at the Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton. Born August 11, 1915, in St. Patrick, Mo., a daughter of Martin and Catherine Schreck Ellison. She married Patrick F. Riney on February 4, 1939, in St. Patrick. He died December 1, 1988. Mrs. Riney was a member of the Shrine of St. Patrick, St. Patrick, Mo., the Daughter's of Isabella and St. Vincent DePaul Society. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed church and visiting with her neighbors. She is survived by her children, Mrs. Warren (Barbara) Devore, Burlington, Iowa; Betty Newberry, Ferguson, Mo.; Rick Riney and wife Pat, St. Peters, Mo.; Wally Riney and wife Kay, Newton, Iowa; Tom Riney and wife Cindy, Spring Hill, Fla.; Leo Riney and wife Sherri, West Burlington, Iowa; Randy Riney and wife Martha, Keokuk, Iowa; and Mrs. Jim (Joann) Conover, Arcadia, Kansas; 26 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her husband; three children, Catherine, Francis and Emma Lou; two sisters, Rachel Fryer and Mildred Clark; three brothers, John, Waldo and Bill Ellison, and three grandchildren. Visitation was held Sunday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, Mo. A rosary was recited by the Daughter's of Isabella. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 15, 2002 at the Shrine of St. Patrick, St. Patrick, Mo., with Father David Cox and Father Tom Alber officiating.
