Doris Virginia Bilinski
1925-2017
Doris Rice Bilinski, 91, left this earth peacefully on February 15, 2017. She was born on October 14, 1925 and raised in Northampton, Pennsylvania. After the death of her mother she went to live with her sister, Maude (Earl) Bachman. After graduation from Northampton High School, she moved to Philadelphia to work at the Navy Yard for the remainder of WWII. In Philadelphia she met her husband, Joseph Bilinski, a US Navy sailor. They married on February 20, 1946. She became a military wife and homemaker, raising their five children. The family eventually settled in Pensacola.
Doris was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, and "GG." She loved each one with her whole heart, but each one differently in just the way she knew they needed. Doris was also an excellent cook, a great, self-taught piano player, a serious coffee drinker, an avid reader and crossword solver, and an enthusiastic sports fan, cheering on her favorite teams-the New York Mets and the New Orleans Saints. She was a strong and caring woman with a sense of humor to boot. She always enjoyed a good laugh and was quick with a witty comeback.
She will be welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Andrew and Emma Rice, all fourteen of her siblings, her husband, Joseph Bilinski, son-in-law, Ken Young, many classmates, friends, and family pets.
Left to remember her love are her children, John (Gloria) Bilinski, Joseph (Ann) Bilinski, Michael (Donna) Bilinski, Andrea (Clay) White, and Jan Young. Her grandchildren John, Gloria Jan, Jody, Jeff, EJ, Kimberlee, Rylan, Khloe, Brian, Michael, Whitney, Emma, Tara, and granddog Daisy. Her great grandchildren, Kyle, Kevin, Johnathan, Kendall, Levi, and Gabriel.
