Douglas E. Rice was born to Oma and Harry Rice, April 10, 1933 in Colorado Springs, CO. Doug passed away on December 28, 2008, in Colorado Springs.

Doug became a talented pianist at an early age of 14. He entertained family and friends on many festive occasions. He played for several local groups and western bands throughout the Colorado Springs area.

Doug worked for over 20 years for Colorado Springs School District #11, where he retired. At which time continued there as a volunteer working with the youth program as a mentor/tutor.

Doug is survived by his sister Connie Bates, nieces Beverly Aurbach, Billie Jo Rice, Staci Bates, Gayla (Keith) McCleod, nephews, Bud Rice, Ed Bates and Greg Bates and numerous grand nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Willard (Marie) Rice and sister Hazal Johnson.

Doug will be remembered as a caring and considerate person who remembered all who he came to know from years past. Doug will dearly missed by all who shared his life with love in heart.

Memorial services are planned for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 3, 2009, Swan-Law Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Donations may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice, 825 E. Pikes Peak Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
