Funeral Mass for Petra Reyna Arguelles, 87, of Lubbock will be held on Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Monsignor Jim O'Connor officiating. Interment will follow in Peaceful Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Rosary will be recited tonight at 7 p.m. in Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
Petra was born Jan. 18, 1925, in Marion, Ind., to the late Antonio Reyna and Refujia Solis. Petra was the last survivor of their union. She grew up in Alamo and married Pedro Garcia Arguelles in 1940. He passed away in 1987. Petra attended St. Patrick Catholic Church. She will always be remembered by her family. Survivors include three sons, Victor (Dora) Arguelles, Pedro Jr. (Claudia) Arguelles, both of Lubbock, and Tony Arguelles of Galveston, and five daughters, Peggy Arguelles and Angie Blakley, both of Lubbock, Rosie Arguelles of Plainview, Mary Arguelles of Houston and Lala (Jose) Rodriguez of Las Vegas, Nev. She had 41 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great grandchildren.
