Mae A. Gensel, 89, of Shickshinny Valley Road, Shickshinny, died on Friday, July 23, 2010, at the Berwick Hospital Center. Born August 7, 1920, in Shickshinny, she was a daughter of the late Silas and Aurilla (Thomas) Reider. A 1936 graduate of Shickshinny High School, Mrs. Gensel went to hold employment as a seamstress, retiring from the Karen Manufacturing Co. in 1982. Mrs. Gensel was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Shickshinny. Preceding her in death was her husband of 51 years, the late Charles F. Gensel Sr., who died in August 1988; and eight brothers and sisters. Mae is survived by three sons, Charles Gensel Jr., and his wife, Mary, of Harveyville; Leroy Gensel and his companion, Sarah Nichols, of Shickshinny, and Richard Gensel and his wife, Bonnie, of Florence, S.C.; three daughters, Shirley, wife of Roger LeValley, of Shickshinny; Gloria, wife of Alvin Sorber, of Shickshinny, and Susan, wife of Ray Kivler, of Hunlock Creek; and two brothers, Richard Reider and his wife, Joan, of Shickshinny, and Paul Reider and his wife, RaeJean, of Huntington Mills. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, Cheryl Bach, Deborah Kelley, Roger LeValley, Kevin LeValley, Rothery Gensel, Steve Gensel, Lea D'Aires, Heidi Jones, Michael Sorber, Leane Yarnell, Jeanette Engle, R.J. Gensel, Ryan Gensel, Angeline Sheetz, Jacqueline Savage and Micah Kivler, 34 great-grandchildren; as well as five great-great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at noon at the Mayo Funeral Home Inc., 77 N. Main St., Shickshinny, with the Rev. Daniel C. Potter, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Sorber Cemetery, Reyburn. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Bible Baptist Church, Furnace Street, Shickshinny, PA 18655.
