Missouri death certificate 34934 shows his birthplace as St. Lawrence County, New York and his parents as James Reese (b. New York) and Charlotte Gorden Reese (b. New York). Burial date October 7, 1944.

See the Maryville Daily Forum, October 5, 1944, page 1 for an obituary. According to the article, he was born February 2, 1862 in St. Lawrence County, New York. He married Lydia Bolick on January 7, 1883 at Maryville. He died at his home near Skidmore on October 5, 1944. He was survived by sons Alfred and Benedict Reese of the home, James Reese of Skidmore, and Melvin Reese of Mt. Ayr, Iowa, as well as brothers Eugene, Wilbert and Willis Reese and sister Mrs. Leona Russnogle of Skidmore.
