Jenelle "Jeanie" Garbig, 66, Lee's Summit, Mo., passed away Thursday, March 9, 2006, at her daughter's home in St. Louis. "I've had a really good life."
Born in Lincoln, Neb., to Forrest and Ruth Reed, she grew up in the Kansas City area. She graduated from Southwest High School, was crowned Alpha Sigma Sweetheart 1958, and graduated from the University of Kansas with a medical technology degree in 1961. Jeanie was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority, and was Pan Heletic Board treasurer from 1969-72. She married Rolland (Kenroy) Snuffer on Aug. 23, 1958, and widowed in 1974, then married John "Jack" Garbig on June 5, 1988. Jeanie enjoyed boating, antiques, crossword puzzles, and her cat "Precious." She was an avid golfer and a master bridge player. She loved her family, friends and home, and will be dearly missed by all. She was predeceased by grandson, Logan Scott.
She is survived by her husband, Jack; daughter, Shelly Scott of St. Louis, Mo.; grandchildren, Lindsay and Andrew Scott; sister Rochelle Crawford; twin, Judy Guyot; one niece; and four nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence, (816) 373-3600. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Lung Association.
