Edward James Read
Age 86, formerly of Wilmington, Delaware, went to be with the Lord on May 4, 2013, at his home in North Fort Myers, Florida, surrounded by his family.
Ed retired as a Manager for Consolidated Electric Company formerly (Artcraft Electric Supply Company). He was a WWII and Korean War veteran. He was a member of the Navy Seabee Veterans of America Island X-8 unit in Fort Myers. He enjoyed golfing, reading and spending time with his family.
Ed was the son of the late William and Isabella Read. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Claire N. (Richwine) Read, his children Edward J. Read Jr. and wife, Debra A. (Turner) Read, Bruce S. Read, Deborah J. (Read) Maksimowicz, brother, William Read, sister, Katherine (Read) Ippoliti, ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Friends may call on Friday, May 10, after 1 pm, at the Chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720 where a service will begin at 2 pm. Burial will be in the adjoining memorial park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to My Father's House International, P.O. Box 20673, Roanoke, VA 24018 or Hope Hospice, 9470 Healthpark Circle, Ft. Myers, FL 33908.
