Joan Ratcliff Jones, 81, of Richland Hills passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Memorials: The family requests, in lieu of flowers, to please honor her memory with a gift to the North Central Texas Chapter Alzheimer's Association. Joan was born Oct. 10, 1931, the youngest of six children born to Cynthia Margarite Jett and Howard Corbett Ratcliff in Fort Worth. Joan met the love of her life, Glen L. Jones, when she was 18 years old on a blind date on Halloween night. They married on June 7, 1952, and had one son, Glen Jr., and one daughter, Julianne, and went on to share 61 years of happiness. Joan worked for Tarrant County College for 25 years, retiring in 2002. While employed at TCC, Joan traveled the state as president of the Placement Association of Texas. She loved to travel with friends and family and was always ready for a new adventure. She loved the Lord and her family. Survivors: She leaves behind family members including her husband, Glen L. Jones Sr.; son, Glen L. Jones Jr.; daughter, Julianne Ainsworth; son-in-law, Eddie Ainsworth; numerous family members, nieces and nephews; and many good friends.
