TEE-MAMOU Funeral services for Mary Ethel Blackwell, 85, will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, April 13, 2009 in St. Jules Catholic Church in Tee-Mamou with Rev. Ted Broussard officiating.
Burial will be in St. Jules Cemetery under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 2:30-7 p.m. today, Sunday, and will continue from 8 a.m. until the time of services on Monday. A rosary, led by Deacon Mike Tramel, will be recited at 6 p.m. today, Sunday.
Mrs. Blackwell died on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at her daughters residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Iota to the late Albert and Mary Daigle Rasberry.
Mrs. Blackwell was a homemaker. She was a former member of the Ladies Altar Society and a 1940 graduate of Iota High School. She enjoyed quilting and visiting with others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her two daughters, Judith (Harold) LeJeune of Evangeline and Yvonne (Rudy) Tramel of Tee-Mamou; one brother, Albert Dale Rasberry of Temple, Texas; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Leo Blackwell; one daughter, Linda Beard; and two brothers, Percy and Harry Rasberry.
Pallbearers will include: Rudy Tramel, Dustin Tramel, Dillon Gotte, Alex Gotte, Damon Gotte, and Matthew Thibodeaux. Honorary pallbearer will be Harold LeJeune.
