Mr. Randall was a 32nd degree Mason.
A memorial service was held at St. Michael's Church.
He was survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Charles (Harriet) Whitaker of Silver Spring, MD & Mrs. Everett G. (Jean) Brown, Montpelier, VT. A sister, Helen Starr Randall Williams (Mrs. Charles R. Williams) of Providence, RI, 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and a nephew Charles Roger Williams, Jr. of Barrington, RI."
The latter is my father.
According to his daughter, Harriet, Harold prefered to be called "Chuck", although his wife did not call him that. He was his mother's favorite and denied very little growing up and his parents wanted him to be a doctor, like his father, but graduated instead with an engineering degree. Soon after graduating he married Helen Auger Davis on July 23, 1912 and moved to Woonsocket, RI to work for the Taft-Pierce Company, an early pioneer on the cutting edge in the manufacture of aircraft parts.
He was an enthusiastic golfer with a low handicap. Was a wonderful piano player too, until he had a car accident (a bird smashing through the windshield) in 1916, which sliced a major artery in his left hand cutting all the tendons in his wrist.
Harold later worked as a salesman for the Travelers Insurance Co. & for RCA.
After his wife passed away in 1968, he moved to Silver Spring, Maryland to live with his daughter, Harriet, later moving to a local nursing home.
