Phyllis J. Bower, 83, of 822 State Rt. 44, Allenwood, passed away Monday, February 4,2013, at Watsontown Health and Rehab Center.

She was born April 2, 1929 in Allenwood, a daughter of the late Charles Lee and Winifred Hazel (Rishel) Ranck. On August 30, 1946 she married Charles R. Bower. He preceded her in death on October 13, 1988 after 42 years of marriage.

Phyllis graduated from Watsontown High School in 1946. She worked several positions at the former Montgomery Mills. She later retired as a teller at the former Farmer's National and Commonwealth Banks, now Sovereign Bank.

She was a faithful member of the Washington Presbyterian Church, Allenwood, where she enjoyed singing in the choir for many years.

Phyllis enjoyed reading and was a wonderful cook famous for her spaghetti and pot-pie dinners which she enjoyed making for her family and friends. She also loved attending and rarely missed family picnics at Staggert's Grove.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Pamela Bower, of Watsontown, and George and Penny Bower, of Muncy; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda and David Masser and Karen Bower, all of Allenwood, and Lana and Robert Keplinger, of Zelienople; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Russel and Shirley Ranck of Watsontown, and Ralph and Barbara Ranck of Montgomery; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Polly Staggert of Montgomery, and Virginia and William Ocker of Northumberland; two sisters-in-law, Faith Ranck of Muncy, and Betty Ranck of Milton; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Bower, Holly Turner and husband Dean, Angie Fillman and husband John, David Masser II, Aaron Masser and wife Lisa, Brandon and Adam Keplinger, Leslie Howard and companion Steve Farrar, and Matt Bower; and 12 great-grandchildren, Jacob Bower, Elizabeth, Catherine and Clay Turner, Rachel Fillman, Olivia, Madelyn and Abram Masser, Jimmie and Pacey Howard, and Hoyt and Laurel Bower; and her companion for many years, Richard Wolfe.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by one sister, Thelma Bieber; two brothers, Arthur and Forrest Ranck; and one granddaughter, Melissa Anne Bower.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown, and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, February 11, 2013 at Washington Presbyterian Church, 17076 West Branch Hwy, Allenwood, PA 17810, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Monday. Officiating will be her son-in-law, Rev. Robert Keplinger.

Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the Washington Presbyterian Church, 17076 West Branch Hwy, Allenwood, PA 17810.
