Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, in Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City, with the Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Bette was born Feb. 23, 1932, in Pittsburg, the daughter of Audie H. and Evelyn (Hayes) Rains.
Bette was a retired L.P.N.
She loved to fish and to spend time on the river. She greatly enjoyed her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by one great-granddaughter, Moneaka McCollum of Chicago; one brother, Audie "Doggie" Rains and wife, Lenda, of Johnston City; one sister-in-law, Patricia Rains of Herrin; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Starrlette Kay Beal; three brothers, Jack Dee Rains, Cecil Rains and Henry "Penny" Rains; and long time companion, Billy Hertter.
