Joan H. Andrews, 86, Slayton, died Sunday, February 11, 2007 at her home in Slayton.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 15 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, Slayton, with Fr. Patrick Arens officiating.
Pallbearers will be Tim, Jerry, Paul, Tony, Brett and Dan Andrews.
Interment will be at St. Ann's Cemetery, Slayton.
Joan Harriet Andrews was born December 21, 1920 in Heron Lake to Harris and Nancy Davis Raines. She grew up in Heron Lake and graduated from Heron Lake High School in 1936. She attended Worthington Junior College in Worthington and graduated in 1938.
She married Gerard "Doc" Andrews on Oct. 27, 1942 at St. Mary's Church in Worthington. Following their marriage they lived in Worthington and Joan worked at the Worthington State Bank. In 1952 they moved to the Slayton area and raised turkeys until 1960 when they moved into Slayton. In 1966 Joan started working as the secretary for the principal at Slayton High School. She retired in 1991.
Doc passed away on August 1, 1993. Joan continued to live in Slayton.
She was a member of St. Ann's Church in Slayton and was active in the Catholic Daughters of America and the WCCW.
She is survived by her seven children, Tim (Judy) Andrews, Seattle, Wash.; Pat Andrews, Pipestone; Jerry (Mary) Andrews, Duluth; Paul (Louann) Andrews, Pipestone; Marge Andrews, Slayton; Jane (Chuck) Dooley, St. Cloud and Tony Andrews, Duluth; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Andersen and Mary Aida Faust, both of California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doc; one great-grandson, Andrew Brady; one brother, Floyd and his wife, Dorothy Raines; two brothers-in-law, Thorvald Andersen and Donald Faust.
