Edith L. Quinney was born April 26, 1924 in Avinger, Texas to Earl A. Day and Mattie Montgomery Day. She granulated Fairview High in Linden, Texas, and was a graduate of Bishop College in Marshall. She did her graduate work at the University of Arizona in Temple. She taught at Lubbock Independent School District for 26 years before retirement, and became a substitute teacher for another 17 years. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and Mt Vernon Methodist Church. She married Senior Master Sergeant Dan Quinney Jr. She moved to Midland in January 2006. She loved and respected among everyone that knew her and will be greatly missed. She died Feb. 26, 2008 in Midland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, and one brother.
She is survived by her sisters, Mary E. Newton of Midland, Thelma R. Robinson of Lubbock; a brother Earl Day of Oklahoma City; nieces Bernadette Thompson Barber, Lubbock, Karen Walker McAfee, Midland, Evelyn Dawson Stroud, Rochester, NY, Marjorie LaRue Britt, Princeton, NJ, Regina Robinson Leggett, Dallas, Dawn Day Newcomb, Oklahoma City, Shirley Montgomery, Denver, Colo.; nephews, Bernard Thompson, Lubbock, Charles E. Brown, Marcus D. Brown, and Michael Robinson of Lubbock, Anthony Robinson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Roland B. Robinson of El Paso; and a host of great nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends Sunday 3-4 p.m. at the Thomas Funeral Home, in Midland.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Vernon Methodist Church in Lubbock, burial will be in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. Condolences to email@example.com.
