Evelyn R. Cain, 57, of Omaha, NE died Sunday, December 20, 2009. Mrs. Cain was born June 4, 1952 in Charlotte, MI the daughter of Kenneth and Madge (Sadowsky) Putney. Evy lived with her husband Pat in Omaha where they resided for 14 years. She worked at West Industries in Omaha for 10 years. Evelyn is a graduate of Olivet High School and Michigan State University. Her hobbies include gardening, feeding wildlife, caring for her large variety of pets and raising butterflies. She is survived by her mother, Madge Cooley of Mountpelier, OH; sisters, Teresa Ballard of Battle Creek, Dana (Dan) Smith of Auburn, WA and Linda Putney of Wapiti, WY; brother-in-law, Bill Claggett; uncle, Gene Sadowsky of Olivet; aunt, Jeanette Sadowsky of FL and many nieces; nephews; cousins; great nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Miles and cats, Murphy, Catfish and Fritters. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Putney; brother, Byron Putney; Aunt Shirlie Sadowsky and Uncle Paul Sadowsky. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Pray Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Smith officiating. Interment will be in Lee Center Cemetery, Calhoun County, MI. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. just prior to the funeral service. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Nebraska Humane Society, S.A.F.E. Place, Inc. in Battle Creek, MI or the Domestic Violence Coordinating Council of Omaha.
She was a victim of domestic violence.
