Putnam Dies; Funeral Sat in Fort Plain
FORT PLAIN — Albert Putnam, 64, of RD3, Fort Plain, died Wednesday night in Amsterdam Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born in the Town of Root, Mr. Putnam was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County. Employed as a night watchman at the former Philwick Mill in Fort Plain, he was previously employed as a dairy farmer and at the Beech-Nut Corp, he retired a year ago. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness. His wife was the late Mrs. Elizabeth Hayes Putnam, Survivors include a son, Laverne Putnam of Stony Point; six daughters, Mrs. Charles Abeling and Mrs. Otis Cagwin of Fort Plain, Mrs. Howard Davis of Ames, Mrs. Donald Millington of Little Falls, Mrs. Ronald Millington of St. Johnsville and Mrs. Dominic Arduini of St. Johnsville; a brother, Clarence Putnam of Fort Plain; 25 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and two nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Swartz Funeral home with Rev. John Lehman of Kingdom Hall officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda. The funeral home will be open this afternoon and evening.
