Mary Jo Pullen Houchin "Mom" passed away peacefully on March 24, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the age of 94.
She was born on Nov. 22, 1915 to Sam and Mattie Ray (Long) Pullen in Mt. Vernon, Texas. She married C.L. (Buck) Houchin on Sept. 4, 1931. They were happily married for 77 years prior to his death on Feb. 8, 2009.
She and her family were proud that she became the first great-grandmother to become regional vice president of A.L. Williams in West Texas in 1983. Mom was an avid basketball fan. She loved to bake those great chocolate and coconut meringue pies and yeast rolls that everyone loved.
Survivors include five children, Joe Don Houchin, Jerry Houchin, Connie Johnson, Sammy Houchin and Terry Houchin; five in-laws, Dee Houchin, Bill and Allie North, Truma Houchin and Lori Schulte; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Burial will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
